Pashu Dhan Bima Yojana: Government Launches Scheme for Livestock Farmers and Cowherds – Full Details Inside

For the welfare of its people, the Indian government is putting many programs into action. In a similar vein, the Pashudhan Bima Yojana was launched by the Shivraj government of Madhya Pradesh to aid the state's cattle producers in the event of livestock losses. The Pashudhan Bima Yojana is applicable in every Madhya Pradesh district, according to government sources. All types of livestock, including dairy animals, are eligible for insurance under this program.

Insurance Coverage Details

A maximum of five animals may be insured by a beneficiary, based on the information supplied. Ten animals will be regarded as one animal unit for species like sheep, goats, cows, buffaloes, etc. This implies that up to 50 animals can be insured by animal keepers simultaneously.

Subsidy for Different Categories

There will be a 50% insurance premium subsidy for those in the APL (above poverty line) group. Animal keepers who belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or BPL (Below Poverty Line) will be eligible for up to 70% in subsidies. The beneficiary will pay the remaining portion of the premium.

Insurance Premium Rates

For one year, the maximum insurance premium rate is three percent; for three years, it is seven and a half percent. Keepers of animals have the option to purchase insurance for a duration ranging from one to three years.

Claim Process

In case of the death of an insured animal, the keeper must inform the insurance company within 24 hours. The Animal Husbandry Department’s doctor will examine the deceased animal and note the cause of death in the report. The claim form will be submitted to the insurance company by the officials within a month. The company will then settle the claim within 15 days.
